My manageress came in yesterday to get your contact details. We are looking for a ceramic tile sign (image attached)

• The wall that the tiles will go onto is 3m150mm long by 870mmm high.
• Our opening date is 1 November.
• I would suggest that each letter be made up as an individual tile also i have asked the designer to change the middle of the O and C of the word ROCA.
• However for a rough quote I am sure that the existing artwork should do.
• Also I would suggest a trim 50 mm on the wall dimentions just incase the building is not exactly to size where we propose to put the sign.

Extra information regarding the brief:

• Essentially we’re looking at four tiles to make up an engraved piece that will be the signage for ROCA Restaurant in Franschhoek.
• The elaborate patterns do not have to be perfect as it wants to have that ‘ worn & weathered ’ look, yet clear enough to see that it was intentional.
• The colors are more or less the way we wish to see them yet, may have that ‘shaded effect‘ that goes with losing colour over time.
• The size of each tiles will be approx. 50cm squared.
• I hope that this info and these images will give you a clear enough idea of what we are trying to create.
• Think Spanish, Italian, Tapas, Geraniums, Relaxed, Beautiful Sunsets....

Effectively you are providing a deadline of less than 15 working days, an extreme short deadline in ceramic terms for the production of a quality mural when considering your brief!

Deadline:

• We quote according to the deadline and with only 15 working days available you will pay a premium of plus 30%.
• Please advise if the 1st is the confirmed date of the opening?
• For more economical quoting please consider temporary option – see costs below.

Options:

• Hand printing will be the option best suited for this short deadline and will also be the most economical.

• The hand carved option will require a longer deadline. If you do plan to use this option, we may have to deliver tiles with imperfections like cracks, colour deviations, etc. It is important to dry the carved tiles slowly and the artist will need to produce a duplicate just in case the first mural results in defects.

Costs:

• Hand printing for a 30 working day deadline will be R6359.65 Excl. 14% VAT plus 30% = R8267.55/m2 = R19428.74 for a 15 working day deadline from date of payment.
• Hand carving for a 30 working day deadline will be R9539.48 Excl. 14% VAT plus 30% = R12401.32/m2 = R29143.10 for a 15 working day deadline from date of payment.
• Both print and hand carved options ill be produced in duplicate, and the surplus panel – with possible defects - will be supplied at less 50%.
• The quote does not include installation.
• Please note that a 45 working day deadline from date of payment will qualify for a 20% discount on the 30 day price. If you can make another plan in the meantime, we could still complete the mural before mid December.
• Payment in full confirms order and to proceed we need committal urgently, as in yesterday! Official quote will be send once we have received your preferred options.

Lay –out:

• Your PDF mentions 500 x 500mm tiles = 4 x letters at a 2000mm width = 1m2
• Your e-mail mentions a size of 3050 x 770mm = approximately 4 x tiles of 770mm = 2.35m2.
• I assume that you plan to use the larger wall.

Format:

• Handmade tiles of approximately 385 x 385mm
• Tiles can be beveled at edges for butt joints
• The tiles could be shaped, and this will reduce the risk on short deadline due to the sizes being smaller

Colour:

• Some R&D will be done regarding your “reds”, with a colour like this I usually needs at least 15 working days, and although I may get close you must except that the ceramic medium does not allow for accurate colour reproduction.
